Kristy Janigo - 10th District Commander

It's been a busy Legion year so far, but I'm having a lot of fun, and I hope you are too! Since my last article, I've been to a lot of places: Fridley for their Early Bird Dinner, Chester Bird (Golden Valley) for an event honoring Hennepin County Sheriff's Deputy Jennifer Lacy, Princeton for an omelet breakfast, Anoka for the Grande Days Halloween parade, and for the Trunk or Treat. I'll be the keynote speaker for the Anoka post Veteran's Day event, and I'm planning to attend several others.

Veterans' issues have made the news several times the past couple months. The Minneapolis VA Medical Center broke ground on its women's clinic in September. You may have heard me on MPR or Kare 11 talking about its significance. You may also have seen Hennepin County's announcement of reaching the federal government United States Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH) definition of an effective end to veteran homelessness. For my day job, I am a frontline worker in this space. I want to thank the posts which came alongside me to serve homeless and justice involved veterans with emergency funding from your gambling revenues. This is your victory too. We'll continue to serve our veterans with steadfast support.

Last month, I sat down with Every Third Saturday founder Tom McKenna and veteran advocate Eric Geesaman to record a podcast about veterans' health, benefits, and building a strong community. Support my commander's project by sending them a donation. Thank you to Osseo, Buffalo, Fridley, St. Michael, and all the other posts which have already made a contribution!

Thank you for doing your part in the 10th District.

Membership

As we navigate through November, I am pleased to report that we are on track to reach our November membership goal of 65%. Currently, we stand in 8th place within the state, boasting a membership rate of 63%. This achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of each and every one of you, and I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the entire team.

Your efforts are not going unnoticed, and it’s evident that we are making significant strides toward our targets. As we continue to push forward, I encourage everyone to maintain this momentum and keep reaching out to potential members.

If anyone requires assistance or has questions along the way, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I am here to support you and ensure we reach our goals together.

Let’s keep up the great work!

Heavenly Father

Welcome to November, probably one of the busiest times of the year. First, we celebrate Veterans Day on the eleventh. The Legion family looks back and honors all the men and women who served our country especially the one who gave their life to keep this a free nation and, in our prayers, we honor all our men and women who are serving now and we ask God to keep them safe.

Thanksgiving is a time to thank our GOD for all the blessing HE bestows upon, like our ability to worship our SAVIOR, move about this country without someone telling us to do.

Lord, we thank YOU for our Legion Family and all who serve to keep peace in this country, and we pray for our police, firemen, and first responders while they do their job.

Do not forget the BUDDY SYSTEM

SAL Commander

Hello Fellow SAL Members

Hope everyone is doing well. Had a good time at Fall Conference this year, had quite a few Squadrons show up this year. That’s good to see more coming out to get their voices heard. I am pleased to announce that Jeremy Copher, one of our Vice Commanders put his name in the hat to run for Detachment Commander for 2025-2026. Jeremy has our full support, good luck Jeremy!

We are working on getting a website for the 10th District. If all the Commanders could email me your dates and times for meetings and an updated Officer List. Then we can have a good website with all the info on it.

The Sweetheart Rally will be held at the North Branch Post 95 on February 15th, 2025. We will have the times soon. Commander Kristy is planning a Christmas Party on December 4th at the Osseo/Maple Grove Legion. There will be more info coming out on that soon. Sounds like a good time.

Once again, if you would like for me to come to your Meetings or Functions just let me know and I will do my best to make it.

Good luck to all the Deer Hunters and have a Happy Thanksgiving with your families.

Once again, my Project is Soldiers 6.

Thank you for everything you do.

Legion Riders

Greetings from the ALR.

With riding season coming to an end for the year it is time to switch gears and get ready for Winter. Unlike our Motorcycles, the ALR does not hibernate for the Winter, rather this is the time of year that many ALR Chapters have fund raising events and plan for next Summer's Rides. The Minnesota ALR certainly has proven their ability to raise funds and bring the entire Legion Family together.

The Minnesota ALR has grown considerably during the 13 years I have been involved in it and on that note, I would like to welcome the 10th District newest ALR Chapter - Rush City.

See you down the Road,

Dan Freund

10th District ALR Director
