Greetings!

My year has started out with a lot of fun and business as well. I want to thank the Hopkins American Legion Auxiliary for their hospitality for lunch and letting me be a part of the Hopkins Raspberry Festival parade. What a fun way to begin my year as the 10th District President. I attended the Department DEC meeting, and will be attending the District finance/budget meeting, and the District DEC meeting.

Some of my upcoming events include: the Lino Lakes Blue Heron Days parade and kids’ carnival, Bruno’s 10th Annual ATV ride in September, also to the October Steak Fry fund raiser in Fridley. I would love to attend one of your meetings and or to help with any events you may be having.

I will be attending Legionville Camp-O-Ree on September 10-13. On Friday, September 11th the 10th District will host a Pork Chop Feed: The Auxiliary has been asked to bring salads, desserts and other sides to go along with the pork chops and corn on the cob. Please come up and join us for the weekend. There are camping sites, some with electrical hookups and also some barracks to sleep in. And then Saturday afternoon at 1pm we will have a District Rally.

I will be attending the National Convention in Louisville Kentucky at the end of the month. I’m so excited to learn more about the American Legion Auxiliary and bring that information back to all of you. Let’s not forget about Fall Conference in St. Cloud on October 22-24. It’s the prefect time to learn more about our Auxiliary programs.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who stepped up and took a Chairmanship / Committee Member for your invaluable support, your leadership, expertise, and dedication will guide the 10th District toward great success in achieving our goals for the year 2026-2027.

My Theme is: Listening to the “HEARTS” of our Veterans

My Symbol: A red stethoscope shaped into a heart.

My project this year is for 2 great nonprofits:

Legionville: To update the cabins for the Veterans Deer and Turkey hunts.

MN Veterans Pantry: They help support the veterans who need food. The hope is that they can expand the Veterans Pantry to areas outside the Metro area.

Have a blessed and safe rest of the summer.

Barbara Hopewell

10th District President
