September 2026 Newsletter
Hello Mighty 10th District
Hope all is well with everyone. I can’t believe summer is almost over. There are a lot of events coming up next month. National Convention is right around the corner. I will not be able to attend this year. We have made plans that we can’t cancel. Have a safe trip to everyone that is going.
September 9th-13th is Camporee at Legionville. I will be there on the 11th to drop off the pork chops and corn on the cobb for dinner on the 11th. I will then be at Camp Ripley from the 11th-13th for National Security and Foreign Affairs that weekend. This will be the same weekend they are having the grand opening for Minnesota Military & Veterans Museum. I am looking forward to this weekend. September 18th is National POW/MIA Recognition Day at Central Park in Greenfield at 5:30 pm. If you can attend this, please do so. September 19th is the ATV ride in Bruno; this is a fun event. I will be taking Aux President Barb on the ride with me this year. She has never done something like this before. If you have an ATV and would like to ride it this will be a good ride.
I see memberships are being handed in, that is great. Let’s keep them coming in. Make sure that each Post has turned in their Officer’s list. We need those in, so we know who to get ahold of. So, thank you for those that have turned them in.
If you have any questions, reach out to your Vice Commanders and they can help you. I am always available to answer questions. Feel free to contact me. My email is at the end of the article.
Thank you to everyone for everything you do for Veterans and their Families
Thank You
Tom Olson

Membership
Hello Mighty Tenth District!
We’re two months into the 27-membership year and we are behind last year’s totals for the District at this same time last year. We are at 48.5% of our goal of 6551 as District. The first National cut off of 50% is September 10 and as of August 26 we only needed 99 members renewed for 27 to achieve that goal. Over half the Posts in the District have already achieved 50% or higher of their 27 membership goal congratulations and keep up the good work.
Remember your District officers are here to assist you. Please feel free to contact your area Vice Commander, me, Commander Tom or our Adjutant Paul for any assistance on membership concerns or any of the American Legion programs we are here to help.
I am offering membership incentives again this year first Post to reach 100% by Veterans Day will receive $100 and this year any Post that makes 100% of goal before Jan1 will receive $50 but as with last year you must attend the District Convention to collect it.
Membership teams, this is the time of the membership year to start your membership drives in earnest. As we all know, when the 27-holiday season starts just before Thanksgiving things slow down in membership until after the first of the year and getting members to renew gets a little harder.
The 10th District came within 348 members of making 100% last year, let’s see if we can make 100% in 27. I will be sending out the 1982 list again, you can use it to help make you goals by transferring anyone that hasn’t paid their 27 dues into your post please use it to your advantage.

Lord, we acknowledge that apart from you we can do nothing.
This reminds me of the other day. We were getting ready to head out to our camper for the weekend. I was putting the dogs in the truck to leave when I heard a scream. I turned around to see my wife Ann on the driveway in pain…
Long story short, hairline fracture and in a pressure boot for 3 to 6 weeks Life and plans can change in an instant.
Sometimes we get so involved in all that’s happening in our lives that we forget to give thanks for what we have.
Remember to be kinder than necessary, because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

2027 Officer reports are still needed from 18 posts. District needs a copy so the newsletter can be emailed to the current year’s Commander, Adjutant and Membership director. Also Department requires them to keep their list current.
