October 2026 Newsletter
Hello, everyone! Fall is here, bringing change to leaves, shorter days, and many events. The Fall Conference is October 22–24 in St. Cloud. I’ll attend Thursday and Friday and hope to see many members of the 10th. On October 24, I’ll also join the Anoka Halloween Parade for the first time. Veterans Day services and dinners follow next month, and I hope everyone can attend an event or two.
Our September 19 ATV ride in Bruno drew about 190 riders on 125 machines, including many newcomers. Auxiliary President Barb joined me, and together we raised funds for the Bruno Legion’s work supporting veterans and the community. Membership keeps growing, so please continue sending applications.
Direct questions to me or a Vice Commander—we’re happy to help. In September, I toured the new museum at Camp Ripley while attending the National Security and Foreign Affairs class. Conveniently located before the main gate, it is well worth a visit.
Please send me nominations of enlisted soldiers, police officers, or firefighters for Department awards so we can recognize our local heroes. Take care, and remember we do this for veterans and their families.
Enjoy the fall, and good luck to all hunters.
Thank You
Tom Olson
10th District Legion Commander

Membership
Hello Mighty Tenth District!
District wide we sit at 62%, there are still quite a few Posts that haven't reached 60% yet. Relying on the National membership mailings to get membership will not work to get to their goal. Some members will renew if you give them a call and just ask them for their dues and it's a great way to just do a buddy check and see how they are doing. Remember the American Legion sloga. is Be The One.
The District is now in 9th place but only by a few hundredth of a percent. Contact members of the 1982 holding post list. Ask them to transfer into their Post. The list contains both members that have already paid their 27 dues and those that have not. If someone has already paid their 27 dues, they will help the post make goal next year as they count for delegation strength for the Post and District this year. If they haven't paid for 27 and they transfer into your Post they count as part of your 2027 goal numbers.
Thank you all for what you are doing on the 27 Membership drive and spreading the world on all of the American Legion Programs.

Summer is over. RV season is quickly winding down. And it's time to start thinking about putting the bike away. But not quite yet, we still have Indian Summer to look forward to.
Seems like the seasons are getting shorter, along with the daylight. Which at the end of the month gets shorter as we set our clocks back.
Lord, this is another day you have made to give me the opportunity to say thank you for people; people who have needs, ideas, feelings, hopes and fears; and people who are created in your image just as I am. Help me again to know myself as an important part of your creation and to accept my responsibility of getting on with being part of your work. Sometimes just being here, like the stars in the sky on a clear fall evening or when my dog's wanted out at 3:00 am. And you were there, too! Now help me reaffirm people now that I am here to work.
