By the time everyone reads this, I hope you’ve had time to practice gratitude with friends and family around Thanksgiving and are not too busy yet preparing for the winter holidays.
Thank you to everyone who opened their post homes to me the week of Veterans Day. I began my week participating in a flag raising with Department Vice Commander Bill Gordon at Magnus Veterans Foundation in Dayton Friday.
I spoke at the Anoka American Legion Veterans Day Dinner Saturday and enjoyed catching up with Commander Lori Allert and the entire post family. Thank you to District Auxiliary President Bethany Dickert for organizing 10th District Veterans Day observance in Lino Lakes Sunday and for the first aid kits that were passed out to each veteran as a thank you. Sunday evening, Bethany and I traveled to Harris, MN, for an elaborate home cooked Veterans Day dinner at Kaffee Stuga. Monday, I participated in color guard with my post (Osseo 172) at the state Veterans Day observance in Arden Hills.
I also remain your American Legion Department of Minnesota Legislative Chair through the 2025 cycle. Visit the department web page for the approved legislative platform https://mnlegion.org/legislation/ and join us at Mancini’s in St. Paul January 8 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. for a legislative mixer where all Minnesota state lawmakers will be invited to have some appetizers and cake and learn about what we hope to get accomplished for our veterans this year.
Thank you for doing your part in the 10th District.

Heaven Father December is a beautiful month we celebrate the birth of Our Savior Jesus Christ we celebrate Christmas, but the real is Our Heavenly Father sent his only Son into the world to preach and teach and to sacrifice his only Son to die on the cross to save us from our sins. We come together to celebrate Christmas and Jesus said when two more are gathered together in my name I am in the mince of them. Lord we thank You for Your sacrifice just as we thank You for country and all the veterans who gave the ultimate sacrifice their lives. Lord, we ask that You will watch over our deployed women and men during Christmas season as we keep them our in our prayers and be with our Legion Family wherever they celebrate Christmas.

Hello Fellow SAL Members
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and was able to spend time with friends and Family. How many were able to get a deer this year. I was shut out this year, maybe next year. We have a lot events coming up yet.
January 11th is Mid-Winter in Anoka, Joint session at 9:00 am, lunch at noon or so then our SAL meeting at 1:00pm downstairs. It would be nice to see a good turnout for our meeting. I would like to see as many Squadrons as we can that afternoon. It’s a good way to meet with our Members and get to know each other.
February 15th is our Sweetheart Rally at North Branch. Social hour at 11:00 am Lunch at noon with a program to follow. Jason Voss and I went to their November meeting. They are a very busy Squadron, they always have something going. That is so good to see. The Legion is doing a gun raffle to raise money for the construction of the Regional Veterans Memorial. They will have tickets to sell at the rally. Give them your support.
If you want to have one of your events that you want to share let me know and I can get it to Paul to put in the Newsletter.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and you Families.

God Bless our Troops and their Families
Greetings from the ALR. The Holiday season is upon us with Thanksgiving already having come and gone. Hopefully everyone was able to renew their ties with families and friends. Hard to believe it is time to get the Christmas stuff out and ready. Before you know it 2025 will be here and it will be time to make those New Year’s Resolutions. As you are making those Resolutions think about volunteering. I am sure every American Legion Post could use additional volunteers.
See you down the Road,
Dan Freund
