Congratulations to Mark Himmer for winning the 10th District Commander’s Trophy Competition at Bill’s Gun Shop March 15. The 10th District Chili Cook-Off was held March 23 at the Hopkins American Legion Post. Thank you to everyone who made chili. Special thanks to Matt Beren, who played key roles in organizing both the pistol competition and the chili cook-off.

Veterans Day on the Hill is April 9 on capital campus from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. I will be speaking at the armory about some of department’s legislative priorities, especially HF 1855 / SF 1894 to protect MN veterans from VA benefits fraud. We encourage members of The American Legion family to set up individual meetings with your state representatives and senators to discuss our platform which can be found at mnlegion.org/legislation.

Thank you for doing your part in the 10th District.

Chaplain

Heavenly Father,

We thank you for the month of April, the winter is finally over. Soon we will have green grass and beautiful flowers.

The best thing about Spring is Lent. We celebrate Jesus entering Jerusalem on Palm Sunday but we abhor all the things that happened like Jesus' death on the cross. Easter Sunday came and the greatest news was Jesus rising from the grave and all this was for the forgiveness of our sins.

Heavenly Father, we ask that you be with all the Legion family who are travelling on Easter weekend and all the service families who are not home to celebrate Easter with their families.

Jesus says love your neighbor as thy self -- there is power in prayer and a smile goes a long way. Amen,

Happy Easter

Walter Dixon

Chaplain

SAL Commander

Hello SAL Members and Legion Family

Hope everyone is doing well, I am ready for spring to get here and stay. I am happy to announce that 5 Squadrons have reached 100% or better. They are Excelsior at 103%, St. Louis Park at 104%, Cambridge at 200%, Clearwater at 127% and Bloomington at 115%. Congratulations to these Squadrons on archiving goal and then some. There are some that are close and some that have a way to go yet. Keep up the good work everyone. If you need anything, feel free to reach out to me.

On March 23rd I was a judge at the Hopkins Legion for the ALR chili cook off, tasted a lot of good chili. Then on April 29th I was at the Brooklyn Center Legion for the SAL Chili cook off, there was some good chili there also. I have had my fill of chili for a while now.

Mark your calendars for June 7th for the 10th District Convention at Buffalo. I will have the times and location for the SAL meeting in the May Newsletter. Hope to see everyone there. Let’s have a good turnout for this year.

Once again Thank you for everything you do for the Veterans and Community.

Tom Olson

10th District SAL Commander

God Bless our Troops and their Families

Riders

Greetings from your ALR.

Greetings from your ALR. We had a few days that promised the start of Spring and I know that there were some that took advantage and already got a few miles on their motorcycles. Unfortunately, Winter was not quite ready to let go but I do think the weather will be ready for us by the time the first major riding event comes along.

Many of the 10th District ALR Chapters have Rides scheduled with proceeds going to various Veteran for this Spring and Summer. One of the first large rides coming up is the 4th annual Magnus Ride for Veterans on May the 10th. Many 10th District leaders, past and present, have chosen the Magnus Foundation as their project.

I can hardly wait for the Ride season to get into full swing.

See you down the Road,

Dan Freund

10th District ALR Director
